BREAKING: UAE says it quits OPEC and OPEC+
The United Arab Emirates has announced its withdrawal from both OPEC and OPEC+, delivering a stunning blow to the oil exporters’ group and its de facto leader, Saudi Arabia, as the Iran war continues to fracture Gulf unity.
The UAE’s decision follows deep frustration over what it described as insufficient political and military support from fellow Arab and Gulf states during Iranian attacks. Diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash was blunt: “I haven’t expected it from the Gulf Cooperation Council and I am surprised by it.”
