Obasanjo Forgives Tells Fayose At 65th Birthday Celebration After 17 Yrs
Dramatic moment on Friday as former President Olusegun Obasanjo delivered a blunt yet reconciliatory message to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose during his 65th birthday celebration in Lagos this is coming after 17 years when both where in government are federal and state level.
Speaking at the event attended by political leaders, associates, and well-wishers, Obasanjo openly addressed past grievances between both men. In his characteristically frank manner, Obasanjo stated that while he had fully forgiven Fayose, he would not rewrite history.
“You’re not a good person… but I have forgiven you,” Obasanjo declared, drawing gasps and laughter from the audience. He further advised Fayose to “go and sin no more,” urging him to embrace a more responsible, people-centered approach to leadership going forward.
The former President emphasized the importance of humility, self-reflection, and personal growth in public service, noting that forgiveness does not erase the need for accountability.
