Mathematics O’Level, JAMB.remains compulsory for students – FG
Just as the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) is still compulsory to gain admission into Nigeria universities, the Federal Government also has said Mathematics was a compulsory subject for all students sitting for O-Level examinations.
This came barely a week after the government said the subject was no longer compulsory for Art students.Recall that in a press statement issued by spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folashade, on Tuesday, the scribe had announced that senior secondary school students in the arts and humanities would no longer be required to present a credit pass in Mathematics in their Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, for tertiary admissions.
“The construction is affecting me for now, but if the road is in good shape, it will benefit everyone, including us traders,” she said.
Another resident who identified himself simply as Kola added that the project would also include the installation of solar street lights.
“We were informed that he is also going to provide solar street lights for the community. The work is not limited to this area alone. He is also working in other areas such as Ibafo and Orimerumu,” he disclosed.
A food vendor who gave her name as Mrs Funmilayo commended the development, saying the construction would ease movement and business activities once completed.
“The road was really bad. Sometimes, when people wanted to buy food, they couldn’t because of how bad the road was. But now that construction has started, it is for the betterment of everyone. We will be the ones to enjoy it eventually,” she said.
As of the time of filing this report, work was ongoing at the site, with heavy machinery deployed to the area for the drainage construction phase.
The Special Assistant to the lawmaker on New Media, Damilare Oloyede, in a chat with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, confirmed that the ongoing road project was part of the numerous infrastructural works facilitated by the lawmaker across the constituency.
He said, “I can confirm that the road, like many others, is either being rehabilitated, reconstructed, or newly constructed, as facilitated by my principal, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola. To him, the best we can do for our people is to continue to facilitate government projects, to help deepen the Renewed Hope initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in making life better for all Nigerians.”
