MFM Suspends Nationwide Vigils, Orders All Church Activities to End by 8pm Due To Security Reasons
The leadership of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches and affiliated ministries across Nigeria to suspend vigils and conclude all church activities by 8:00 p.m. until further notice due to growing security concerns across the country.
The directive was contained in an internal circular dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the church’s Director of Administration (International Headquarters and Nigeria), Temitope A. Olawale.
According to the circular, the decision was reached as a proactive measure aimed at protecting members, church workers, and worshippers amid the prevailing security challenges affecting several parts of Nigeria.
Nationwide Directive Takes Immediate Effect
The church instructed all Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, Zonal Pastors, Branch Pastors, and ministry leaders to ensure strict compliance with the new directive.
Under the revised arrangement, all church services, meetings, programmes, fellowship gatherings, and departmental activities must be concluded on or before 8:00 p.m. across every level of the ministry.
Church authorities emphasized that the directive applies to all MFM branches nationwide and remains effective immediately.
Overnight Vigils Suspended
As part of the new security measures, the ministry announced the suspension of all vigils, overnight prayer meetings, and similar late-night worship programmes throughout the country.
The church explained that while spiritual activities remain an important aspect of its mission, the safety of members must be prioritised in light of current security realities.
However, the leadership noted that where necessary, vigils may be converted into evening prayer sessions, provided such programmes end no later than the stipulated 8:00 p.m. deadline.
Measure Aimed at Protecting Worshippers
MFM stressed that the decision should not be interpreted as a reduction in its commitment to worship, prayer, or spiritual activities.
Rather, the church said the temporary adjustment was introduced solely to safeguard lives and minimise potential security risks to congregants and church personnel.
The leadership reiterated that the wellbeing of members remains a top priority and that precautionary measures are necessary given the uncertainty surrounding security conditions in various parts of the country.
Regional Leaders Directed to Ensure Compliance
The circular further tasked Mega Regional Overseers with ensuring that the directive is immediately communicated to all regions, zones, branches, ministries, and departments under their supervision.
Church leaders were instructed to implement the new guidelines without delay and ensure that all worship centres comply fully with the revised operational schedule.
The directive will remain in force pending further review and assessment by the church leadership.
The development comes amid increasing concerns over insecurity in parts of Nigeria, with religious organisations, schools, businesses, and community groups adopting additional precautionary measures to protect members and staff.
