Trump Says He Is Safe After Assassination Attempt
American President, Donald Trump, has addressed the nation after he escaped an obvious assassination attempt at a dinner for journalists.
The botched attempt was the third on his life in the past couple of years.
He said , in a brief press address this morning, that he was okay as was an unnamed secret agent who was wounded in the attack in a Washington venue.
He paid glowing tributes to the country ‘s security architecture for their prompt effective response to the attack by a 31 -year old Cole Tomas Allen, burst into the venue of the dinner organized for the White House Correspondents Association after breaching a heavy security blockade.
The suspect, believed to be a lone gun man, armed with a knife, a hand gun and a short gun, was, however, overpowered.
His nationality had yet to be established at press time , though an apartment in California, allegedly linked to him, was being searched for evidence that might help their case against him.
He is expected to be charged on Monday for the use of a firearm, and assault on a Federal Agent.
He is expected to be charged at a Federal District Court.
