Trump, wife escape assassination at correspondent dinner party venue •US secret service begins probes
President Donald Trump and several top officials were safely evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, following an invasion by a gunman on Saturday.
Others who were evacuated from the scene included Vice President JD Vance, along with senior cabinet members. They were rapidly escorted out as the threat unfolded just beyond the main event space.
U. S. authorities confirmed that a suspect was quickly apprehended, and the situation brought under control. Despite the terrifying moments, no senior officials were injured. One officer, protected by body armor, was reportedly struck but is expected to recover.
