LSG Warns residents in its estates to stop installing solar power systems.
The Lagos State Government has clarified that residents living in its social housing estates are required to obtain and pay for alteration permits before making modifications to their buildings , including the installation of solar power systems.
This clarification was given by Wale Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in response to a viral video showing state Task Force officials carrying out an enforcement operation on a building whose occupant failed to obtain the necessary permit.
According to Ajetunmobi, installing solar power in these estates is considered an alteration to the original design and functionality of the building, which makes it subject to official approval.
He stated that while the development shown in the video is accurate, the individual who shared it appeared to be misinformed about the Lagos State Government’s guidelines regarding solar installations in social housing estates.
