Tinubu summons Ibas, ex-Sole Administrator, EFCC, Finance Minister
President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, summoned the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.) to the State House in Abuja, who arrived around 5:50 pm.
Ola Olukoyede, The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede; and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, were also seen arriving at the Presidential Villa around the same time.
The agenda of the meeting could not ascertain at the time of this report.
On 18 March, President Tinubu imposed emergency rule on Rivers State due to an escalating political crisis.
He also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara; his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu; and all members of the state assembly for an initial period of six months.
The President appointed Ibas, a retired Chief of Naval Staff, as the state’s sole administrator.
The six-month emergency rule ended on 17 September, as Fubara was asked to resume as governor of the state the following day.
When the assembly resumed plenary, the lawmakers resolved to investigate the management of the state’s finances during the six-month emergency rule.
However, Ibas rejected that resolution.
